Substance Use Disorder Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

Adult Substance Use Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program

Dover Behavioral Health System is pleased to offer an Adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for substance use disorder at our location in Dover, Delaware. The Adult IOP program is provided by our dedicated, experienced staff of healthcare professionals in a positive, healing environment.

Chemical dependency is a highly treatable disease and the Adult IOP program offers customized outpatient  treatment for individuals with substance use disorder problems to help them overcome their dependency on alcohol and/or drugs.

What is an IOP?

An Intensive Outpatient Program or IOP is a part-time day program that allows for the most freedom for patients while also offering structure, therapies and counseling.

An IOP can benefit those trying out treatment for the first time, while also supplying a great step-down for those in long term residential or even PHP treatment.

With strong support groups and a strong support system, our IOP is offered Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Substance Use and Adults

According to SAMHSA, over 20 million adults suffer from a substance use disorder each year. This includes those who have alcohol use disorder as well as those who abuse legal and illegal drugs and the number continues to hover around that mark.

The stigma surrounding substance use and seeking treatment can be daunting, but treatment works and help – and hope – is out there.

If you’re suffering from a substance use problem, an adult substance abuse IOP can help.

Why Choose an Adult Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program?

Substance abuse treatment is not one-size-fits all, and which adult substance abuse outpatient program you choose matters.

Treating the physical symptoms of drugs or alcohol and substance abuse problems does not always fix the overall problem. Finding an adult outpatient substance abuse program that takes into account your mental health is key, as mental health and substance abuse often go hand in hand, to create a co-occurring disorder.

A co-occurring disorder is when a person suffers from both substance abuse and mental health issues. Solving one problem does not solve the other, and both must be addressed for the patient to begin their journey to recover.

Picking an adult outpatient substance abuse treatment program that understands this, and focuses on you as a whole person, can make a big difference when it comes to long term recovery.
